Hello everyone,
In this blog post, I\u2019d like to share a case where we provided\u00a0comprehensive support for an elderly couple\u2019s entire home over the course of four months<\/strong>.
First, we transformed the look of the hallway and the bathroom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A section of the hallway connecting the home of the parents and their cohabiting son\u2019s family was filled with many items the parents used\u2014or didn\u2019t use\u2014and they weren\u2019t sure where to start organizing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the parents didn\u2019t need to prepare meals for the whole family, they had been keeping snacks, instant foods, and other consumables in this area for quick access.
We decided to start by reorganizing this space to make it much more functional and easier to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When organizing a home for seniors, the most important thing is\u00a0clarity and ease of use<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our discussions with the client, we talked about how having a kettle or toaster in this area could make things more convenient for the parents.
So, we created a space for them, and with an outlet installed efficiently, it\u2019s shaping up to be a very handy little station.

We received a message from the client a few days later:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe toaster that used to sit in the hallway has been moved to a much more convenient spot\u2014it\u2019s perfect!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When organizing a home for seniors, it\u2019s really important to make everything clear and easy to understand<\/strong>, even with large labels.
It seems that the setup has been upgraded, and now it\u2019s incredibly easy to use.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the parents often clean the floors, we installed hanging storage in an easy-to-reach spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By placing the trash bin and cleaning sheets nearby, we created a system that allows them to quickly clean and put everything away afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

When everything is clearly visible and easy to find, it prevents both searching for things and buying unnecessary items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This approach is not only useful in homes of seniors, but it also supports shared household responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your partner doesn\u2019t usually help with chores, instead of saying, \u201cClean up!\u201d, focus on creating a system or setup that makes them want to clean<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also organized the grandfather\u2019s treasured tools.
\uff08Come to think of it, I\u2019ve previously helped another client organize her father-in-law\u2019s tools as well! \ud83d\ude0a\uff09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screws and parts were scattered everywhere and hard to access, so we started by sorting everything.
There may be more in the entrance area, so next time we\u2019ll combine everything in one place to make it easier to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, here is the bathroom.
When the floor is cluttered, it increases the risk of falls or tripping, and dust can accumulate, creating hygiene and safety concerns.
We thoroughly organized and added storage to address these issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the space has changed significantly, we removed the door to prevent the need for opening and closing and to avoid overstuffing.
This also improved visibility, making it easier to see and access items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s an interesting story from this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The father-in-law often buys laundry products, but he sometimes mistakenly buys fabric softener instead of detergent.
As a result, there was a large stockpile of unused fabric softener in the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s understandable\u2014product packaging highlights design and benefits\u2014but the words \u201claundry detergent\u201d<\/strong> or \u201cfabric softener\u201d<\/strong> are written very small near the top.
For seniors with declining vision, this can be very confusing, and realizing later that they\u2019ve purchased the wrong item after carrying a heavy load must be frustrating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clarity in packaging can even affect sales, I believe!
So, if anyone from a detergent company happens to read this blog \ud83d\ude04, please consider creating packaging that is clear and easy to understand for seniors and foreigners alike, with more inclusive design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u524d\u8ff0\u306e\u67d4\u8edf\u5264\u3082\u3054\u3063\u305d\u308a\u7247\u4ed8\u3051\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3001\u6c34\u6813\u4e0b\u304c\u7a7a\u3044\u3066\u30d0\u30b1\u30c4\u304c\u7f6e\u3051\u308b\u3050\u3089\u3044\u5e83\u3005\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002

Seniors often have a strong attachment to their belongings, so I was initially concerned that the parents might feel guarded.
However, after six hours of effort, they were extremely satisfied and said,
“It\u2019s so clean and easy to understand! You\u2019re truly a professional!”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wouldn\u2019t have been possible without the help of the client (the daughter-in-law) who worked alongside us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transformation was so remarkable that even afterward, the client was surprised to see items being removed one by one\u2014\u201cthis isn\u2019t needed, that isn\u2019t needed.\u201d
We also cleared out the large stock of fabric softener mentioned earlier, leaving plenty of space under the sink for a bucket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
